The most celebrated and influential blockchain gathering of China, the Shanghai International Blockchain Week 2019 witnessed yet another phenomenal span this year as well.
Themed as ‘Blockchain New Economy, New Decade, New Beginning,’ the glorious Blockchain Week was constituted of Hackathon, Demo Day, and the Fifth Global Blockchain Summit. With over 2000 participants, 250 field experts and 50 global projects, the notable event turned out to be the ground where advanced blockchain technologies, real-world applications, regulatory norms, along with future plans came to life.
This year eminent personalities of the blockchain arena including Sunny Lu, Co-founder and CEO of VeChain, Renato Grottola, Global M&A and Digital Transformation Director in DNV GL-Business Assurance and Member of VeChain Foundation Steering Committee, Antonio Senatore, Global CTO at Deloitte Blockchain and Member of VeChain Foundation Advisory Board graced the summit as keynote speakers.
The leaders, along with other experts from the industry shared their views in exploring new ways of exploiting blockchain terminology for fulfilling user demands in the future.
In his speech, VeChain’s co-founder and CEO, Sunny Lu stated that: “Only with professional teams and enterprise-level applications can we promote the development of blockchain technology and in turn, boost its mass adoption. It’s more about business consensus.” He further added: “There should be a reasonable incentive mechanism in place to bring various enterprises together. It could be more difficult to reach business consensus than a technical one, to achieve this goal, enterprises need to be more open-minded and make their platforms open-sourced to attract more players and participants. In addition, the industry also calls for a governance consensus; governments and regulators need to play their roles. A compliant, fair and cooperative environment is essential to enabling blockchain to go mainstream.”
Renato Grottola, who serves as the Global M&A and Digital Transformation Director in DNV GL-Business Assurance and Member of VeChain Steering Committee presented his views in his keynote speech- Digital Assurance by DNV GL: A concrete example of how blockchain is reshaping the Industry of Trust. The spearhead quoted:“The Proof of Concept Era has come to an end. What we take into consideration before implementing anything blockchain is whether it stands to have a chance of mass adoption. We need to make sure it brings real impact. That is why choosing the right blockchain partners is key. The value of blockchain lies not in the technology itself but in the intersection between technology and business processes. We must keep business demands in mind when adopting blockchain. The real value and innovation potential offered by Blockchain Technology to society is the transitioning from linear to circular economies.”
In his speech, Antonio Senatore, Global CTO at Deloitte Blockchain and Member of VeChain Foundation Advisory Board, revealed why Deloitte teamed up with VeChainThor Blockchain for providing efficient services to the clients.
VeChain, the popular enterprise-focused public blockchain network, is constantly working to improve the blockchain ecosystem and infrastructure as a whole. VeChainThor blockchain positions itself as an “Enabler” which calls for more builders to exploit its merits. The firm plans to help and guide its partners who intend to use the decentralized mechanism.
Recently, auditing firm Deloitte grabbed attention when it announced that it would allow its employees to pay for lunch using a Bitcoin wallet. This project was only on a testing basis as the firm wanted to see Bitcoins capabilities in micropayments.
